Certified Medical Assistant QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
•Required current Certified/Registered Medical Assistant
•Preferred 1-year experience as Certified/Registered Medical Assistant
•Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
•Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse population.
•Knowledge of health education theory and practice.

Certified Medical Assistant DUTIES
• Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
• Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
• Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; taking electrocardiograms; changing dressings assisting in performing several different procedures.
• Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
• Follow all office protocols, complete testing on patients as required, adhere to additional duties list, complete any other duty requested by supervisor and/or provider.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Answers and transfers calls in a pleasant manner
•Schedule appointments, reschedule appointments
•Post messages in patient charts
•Check insurance eligibility and complete the Benefits Sheet
• Assist with compilation of daily cashier duties which include the posting and collecting of all payments prior to after visits, addressing balances, and applying them to correct accounts
• Assist in checking in patients
• Assist in checking out patients
•Operation of e-fax machine
•Operation of scanners
• Operation of copy machine
•Confirm next day appointments
•Communicates effectively and professionally with other physician offices when requesting or submitting patient information under HIPAA guidelines
•Follow all HIPAA guidelines
•Reviews and ensures all packets, patient forms and regulatory guidelines are completed by patient
•Ensures all patient information is entered in chart correctly and in a timely manner by scanning/sorting or documenting
•Clean and straighten waiting room as needed
•Returned mail call backs
•Follow the opening procedures for the beginning of the day
•Follow the closing procedures for the end of the day
•Complete the clinic daily count sheet at the end of the day
